Protecting your privacy

We do not share your contact information, such as email address, home address, or phone number. This information is captured to verify your identity and establish voting eligibility and residence location.

Your Personal Information (defined below) is not shared with any third parties without your consent except as noted below.

We use browser tracking devices such as cookies. Cookies store information about your account, web browser, computer, mobile phone, or other device to create a simple, personalized experience. Our tracking also helps us verify your identity and protect from cyber-attacks and malicious activity.

We track and collect your activity in VoteEngine; however, we only provide anonymous voting information and demographics outside your account. We do not track your browsing behavior on other sites.

You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may impede VoteEngine’s operation for you.

We may contact you via email about votes and bills which you have requested updates. You may disable these notifications in you profile settings.

The Company reserves the right at all times to contact its members for legitimate account and business-related reasons, such as password management.

We do not knowingly allow accounts for individuals under the age of 13 or collect their information. If we become aware of an account for a person under the age of 13, we will remove all materials posted by such individual and will delete the account.

Recommendations made on our website may include links to third party websites, which will have different privacy policies. We are not responsible for compliance with privacy policies of third party websites. We urge all users to review such privacy policies.

Data collection and storage

As part of your user profile, we collect your name, email address, and mailing address or zip code. We track data relating to your behavior on the website, including recommendation support, recommendation views, and campaign responses.

Do not post any personal information which you expect to remain private in any recommendation. We also reserve the right to collect any data about you which is publicly available; including data obtained by us or by a 3rd party engaged by us to collect such information. For collection of telephone numbers, please see the final paragraph of Section 3 below.

We make good faith efforts to store all collected data in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, although we cannot guarantee complete security.

We log standard web information for each page served, including IP address, page URL, and timestamp.

Corporate

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary set forth herein, the Company: (1) may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; and (2) may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) enforce our Terms of Service; (b) respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; (c) or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of the Company, its users or the general public.

In the event that the Company is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.
