116th Congress H. Bill 4
Protect Voting Rights: H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021
Rikki Acuna
To kick off Fall 2021 of the current Session, Terri Sewell's reintroduction of the Voting Rights Advancement Act will be heard on the House floor. H.R. 4 has received resounding support from House progressive democrats and House leadership. The voting rights of millions of Americans will be at risk without greater Federal protections. Not only has the VRA been rendered toothless after the Supreme Court Decision in Shelby County v. Holder: countless new institutional and systemic efforts to dilute and suppress the votes of marginalized communities are crippling modern American democracy. H.R. 4 is the solution to these issues, and we need to see this Bill continue through the Senate and into law.
