116th Congress H. Bill 7820
Election Day should be a national holiday.
Leslie Chiu
Please support this bill honoring the legacy and mission of John Lewis, and tell Congress that Election Day should be a national holiday. Voter suppression comes in many different forms both explicitly and implicitly. For far too long, working people and families have been implicitly disenfranchised from having their voices heard because election day happens to take place on Tuesdays. Dealing with traffic and rush hour conditions to stand in line for undefined amounts of time adds numerous constraints, when we all know our freedom after work is precious. Why provide any additional barriers, especially to working people, from participating in our sacred democratic processes? The United States has starkly low voter turnout compared to other developed governments. Our representation matters and we deserve an easy and convenient experience in deciding our representatives at every level. Please support this bill to make Election Day a national holiday!
